THE LIVING SCHOOL OF ART
PORTLAND CHILDREN’S MUSEUM
Description: Art Exhibition of New Works
Size: 700 sq ft
Date: 2019
Project Team: The Living School of Art and PCM
The Museum collaborated with The Living School of Art to present an art exhibition of new works. The show included artworks made in collaboration with artists: Jodie Cavalier, Amanda Leigh Evans, Laura Medina, Victor Maldonado, and Eunice Tapia. Pieces included paintings and drawings that told personal stories of migration, an installation of life-sized jellyfish made from recycled materials, and participatory artworks.
“The Living School of Art is a project that empowers young people as artists and storytellers, and recognizes the creative practices that are already part of our daily lives. Art is not something separate from ourselves, it's not something we have to visit a museum to experience. It's right here in our homes, in our kitchens, in our community too.” - Amanda Leigh Evans
